So I purchased a Kodak Zi8 camera, got my tripod ready, sat down and I was off…  Ok so there is not much memory in the camera and the card that came with it had to be mailed.  So… I had to wait a day or so before I could film.  I purchased a little Kodak desktop trip, not so great, broke right at the start.  So I had my large tripod, it’s for a medium format camera, a little over sized but worked just great.

Card arrives, inserted in the camera and again I am ready to shoot.  I shot in the bedroom, I shot in the office, I shot in my client room, in the living room, you name it I shot there (OK, I drew the line at the bathroom).  it was all about lighting and the perfect background, after all this was Oprah and I was auditioning for my “OWN” show.

What I learned;  I am not a producer or a director.. I gave up looking for video perfection and decided that I was enough, me just as I am…after all that is what they are going to get if I get on the show so might as well give it to them right out the gate.

If you had asked me a year ago to submit a video for a show, a reality show no less, I would have said you were nuts, I did not have the self confidence to do something like that and what if I actually got on, I would have to be on TV!  I got a wonderful opportunity to see how far i have come and that the self work I have been doing has really paid off.  The really amazing thing is that I have no attachment to however this turns out.  Obviously I would not have sent in my video if I did not truly want to be on the show but I also am OK with what ever turn up.  The most important thing I did was showed up and played the game, beyond that…it is gravy!  I did not talk myself out of it, tell myself I was not good enough, let that little voice in my head sabotage my fun, That was the greatest gift.  The realization that I can have fun in life, play the game but not get caught in the game along the way.  What an amazing realization!  I have finally moved out of the crab pot and have become an observer in my own life.  What a cool thing….NOW THE REAL FUN BEGINS!
